The 3 Dimensions of Construction Scheduling Software

One of the key modules in your IBSWIN Software is Scheduler Plus, which is our construction scheduling software.  Based on our review, however, only 50% of our clients use this scheduling module to manage their schedules.  We have never put a heavy emphasis on using our scheduling software to manage your projects more efficiently, but now that we are part of Hyphen Solutions, we are seeing the importance of how construction scheduling is the glue that holds everything together.  The purpose of this brief document is to provide you with a clearer understanding of the 3 dimensions of construction scheduling and how they can affect your construction business.

Dimension 1 – Creating a static schedule for each home

This is usually what many builders start with and many still use.  Typically, Excel is the tool that is used to create a schedule for each home by creating the construction tasks in their appropriate sequence and duration to calculate the estimated completion date of each home.  Depending on the software tool used (Excel, MS Project, Scheduler Plus, etc.), the schedule can be simple or sophisticated in terms of how each task interacts and the final completion date is calculated.  The bottom line is this type of scheduling provides the project managers with a timeline for each task and subcontractor and ultimately, they are responsible for keeping everything on target.  It requires a lot of phone calls, texting and whatever other means to keep the subs on time.  Is this where your construction scheduling is at ???

Dimension 2 – Updating and revising the schedule on a “real time” basis

The next phase in construction scheduling software is where the software provides for “real time” updating of the schedule so that you can analyze scheduling variances better. The schedule for each home is adjusted based on delays, so that your project managers have better information to communicate with your subcontractors (trade partners).  This information can even be directly communicated to your subcontractors via Emails or text.  It provides your sales and service departments with more accurate scheduling of completions for planning walk-throughs and sales closings. It can even provide more accurate dates for options cut-offs and prevent costly construction mistakes.  This is what the IBSWIN Scheduler Plus system provides.  

Dimension 3 – Real time communication with subcontractors including payment approvals

It was nice seeing many of you at the PCBC Show last month.  We had quite a few Pharaoh clients dropping by the Hyphen booth at the show wanting to get an update on things.  For those of you that weren’t able to attend, here are some of the key items discussed:

  1. Hyphen / Pharaoh are committed to continue supporting the current IBSWIN / Webview products and clients until replacements products are fully completed and tested.
  2. All Pharaoh clients can now take advantage of the integration between IBSWIN and BuildPro, the leading homebuilder scheduling module and much more.  Contact us a sales@ibswin.com for more info on this.  
  3. The Flooring and Options modules are being fully redeveloped for all our design center clients.  We will be incorporating many of the new features you have been asking for.
  4. We are working with Hyphen to add California phase builder features in IBSWIN to their BRIX ERP system.  BRIX is a very popular system that is widely used by homebuilders in Texas and the mid-west.  We are confident that this eventually will be an excellent replacement for IBSWIN.

To start out 2018 in a positive way, we will be providing “free” Webview overview / training sessions.  They will be designed to help existing Webview clients understand the full capabilities of all the Webview modules.   They will be broken down into two sessions that will be 2 hours each.  One will focus on SubView and SuperView and the second session on the Buyer related modules (BuyerView, InterestView, and ServiceView).   Any existing Webview client company attending the session will be provided access to all Webview modules for 2018 at no extra charge.

We also invite any Pharaoh clients not currently using Webview to attend these sessions to see how these exciting new modules can help out in 2018.  We will provide special one-time pricing to any attendee that chooses to activate Webview in 2018.   We will be providing further information with dates and times as it becomes available.

Another year has flown by very fast and we want to take this opportunity to thank all of our clients for their support and business this past year.  Our focus this past year was to continue to improve our IBSWIN / Webview software products while at the same time tightly integrate them with Hyphen’s BuildPro software.

We added over 20 new clients this past year over half of which are also using BuildPro as their advanced scheduling and supplier collaboration tool.   We are planning some more exciting new announcements in early 2017 regarding our relationship and development efforts with Hyphen Solutions.

We are excited to announce the official release of version 12.11 of our IBSWIN software.  This release provides a direct interface to Hyphen’s BuildPro system that will eventually replace the Scheduler Plus module and some of the Webview components.  BuildPro is the mostly widely used scheduling and supplier collaboration system used by 85 % of the top 25 US  homebuilders.  It allows Pharaoh to provide BuildPro (and SupplyPro) to our existing Clients as well as new potential Clients.
